Collegiate
Competition
Student skydivers
Nich Jarlsberg from UW Stout, Kaleb Lommen from University of Minnesota
and Aaron Cederberg from
UW Madison traveled to Houston over the New Year to represent Skydive
Wissota and their respective universities in the annual National
Collegiate Parachuting Championships. Upon their arrival at Skydive
Spaceland, they were quick to form pickup teams with other civilian
skydivers, eventually competing in the 4-way advanced and 6-way
speedstar categories.
Despite nearly
three and a half days of overcast and low clouds keeping the competitors
grounded, the competition finally took off along with the New Year,
and the requisite nine competition jumps were quickly made with
the last of them barely beating sunset on Sunday, the final day
of competition.
The teams placed
8th in the 4-way competition and 10th in the speedstar competition,
however regardless of the results, all the participants enjoyed
meeting other student skydivers from across the nation and of course,
the skydives.
